Hello dear HP Community,

I am currently facing an issue with my HP W1A78A. It has an automatic document feeder, but when I insert paper for scanning, the display correctly shows "Paper detected." However, when I select "Scan to Computer," the scanner does not use the feeder but instead scans from the flatbed glass.

I would like to configure my Windows 11 system so that I can choose which scanning method to use.

Additionally, every time I start a scan from my computer, a confirmation prompt appears asking if I really want to scan. I would like to disable this prompt.

How can I achieve this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @W1A78A

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scan to computer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

Let me share a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

Note: For security purposes, scanning remotely is disabled by default.

Follow the procedure if this feature has been disabled, and you want to enable it.

Use the HP Printer Assistant application to enable Scan to Computer if it has been disabled.

From the Start menu, click All Apps, click HP, and then select the printer name.

Go to the Scan section.

Select Manage Scan to Computer.

Click Enable.

After you have enabled the Scan to Computer feature, see the following steps to get started:

Load the document on the scanner glass or into the document feeder according to the indicators on the printer.

From the Home screen on the control panel, touch the Scan icon.

Swipe right and then touch the Computer icon.

Select the computer you want to scan to.

Verify the Scan Shortcut is the option you want to use, or touch Scan Shortcut to select a different scan option.

If you are using the automatic document feeder (ADF) and your original is single-sided, touch the left side of the Original 2-sided slider to move it to the off position.

To select any additional scan options, touch the Settings icon

.

Touch Send or Start Scan.

If this solution hit the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
