I am encountering an issue when trying to open HP Web Jetadmin. The application fails to start and displays the following error message:

duotor0_0-1762263299413.png

.NET Framework 4.8 is installed and enabled, and the system has been restarted, but the issue persists. Sometimes the app opened, but when I am trying to open "Groups" it's crashing with same error.

Any guidance on resolving this error would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @duotor0

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

This error in HP Web Jetadmin is typically caused by corrupted component states or misconfigured client bindings. Reinstalling the application cleanly and resetting its configuration often resolves the issue.

Step-by-Step: Resolve HP Web Jetadmin “ComponentStateException” Error

1. Backup Configuration (If Accessible)

  • If Web Jetadmin opens intermittently, go to:
    • Tools > Configuration > Export Configuration
  • Save the .cfg file to a secure location.

This preserves your device groups, credentials, and settings before reinstalling.

2. Uninstall HP Web Jetadmin Completely

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
  • Select HP Web Jetadmin and uninstall.
  • After uninstalling, manually delete:
    • C:\Program Files\HP Inc\Web Jetadmin
    • C:\ProgramData\HP\Web Jetadmin
    • Registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HP\Web Jetadmin (do not edit registry manually—use HP’s cleanup tool if available)

This ensures no corrupted components remain.

3. Reinstall HP Web Jetadmin

Download the latest version from:
HP Web Jetadmin Download Page

Run the installer as Administrator.

During setup, choose Custom Install and verify that all required services are selected.

A fresh install resets component bindings and avoids legacy conflicts.

4. Verify .NET Framework and Windows Features

Confirm that .NET Framework 4.8 is enabled:

  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off
  • Ensure .NET Framework 4.8 Advanced Services is checked.

Also verify:

  • IIS (Internet Information Services) is disabled unless required.
  • Windows Defender or third-party antivirus is not blocking Web Jetadmin ports.

Conflicting services can interfere with Web Jetadmin’s internal components.

5. Run Web Jetadmin as Administrator

  • Right-click the shortcut > Run as administrator.
  • If the error persists, open the Event Viewer:
    • Go to Windows Logs > Application
    • Look for entries related to HP.Imaging.Wjp or .NET Runtime

These logs may reveal which component is failing to initialize.

6. Optional: Bind to Correct NIC

If your server has multiple network adapters:

  • Open WJAConfigTool.exe from the install directory.
  • Set the correct NIC IP address for Web Jetadmin to bind to.

Misbinding can cause client components to fail during launch.

Let me know how Web Jetadmin responds after reinstalling and verifying component bindings. If needed, I can guide you through restoring your configuration or isolating the failing module.

You're doing everything right—this sequence should help restore full functionality.
