Hi @gshacks

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If the printer will be used in a different region from where it was originally bought and used, we need to perform some changes called a regional reset for your printer; only after that will you be able to use the printer with the current region's ink cartridges.

I will be glad to assist you with the regional reset on your printer if you are planning to use the printer in UK for an extended period and again when you are back to USA the printer needs to be reset to that specific region.

Let me know if you would like to proceed.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi Thank you for your reply very helpful, but not sure if I should do it. As the printer is in Florida and if I change it's region I would assume that when it receives software updates it will switch back to USA region. I only ask as I use more cartridges in the UK so get a good discounted price which I was hoping to use to buy them for my USA printer.

You are Welcome!

The printer will not automatically switch back just because it downloads firmware updates. Once set, the region stays until you request another reset.

If you mostly use the printer in the USA, it’s usually best to keep it on the US region.

If you buy UK cartridges and bring them to the USA, they won’t work unless the printer is re-coded to UK.

Because you mentioned you want to buy cartridges in the UK but use them in Florida → that won’t work without changing the printer’s region, and then your US cartridges would stop working.

You're awesome, and I'm honored to have been your go-to guide today! 😊

Stay fantastic, and have an amazing day ahead!
