Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am trying to install the hp deskjet 1280 printer in my computer. I have read all the related threads about it (Deskjet 1280 drivers for Windows 10 x64)

I tried all the options you suggest:

1. Plug and play (windows find the device but not as a printer)

2. Tried to download the drivers but there is not any option for windows 10

3. Tried to download via windows update the drivers for 1220c as you mention on another thread, but there is not any driver for that either.

4. Tried driver easy

5. Tried HP support assistant

None of the above worked.

Please help me solve that problem.

Regards

Anthimos

Hi,

Try to follow Method Four below to install the printer drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog:

Hi Shlomil! thank you for your immediate reply.

I tryied to do what you say . Lets hope that Deskejet and Laserjet difference is not a problem as well as Windows 10 for windows 8.

I diid find a drivers for 1220c deskjet as you said, but then I cant install them as it is discribed ( Microsoft Knowledge Base article 323166).

When its time to use command prompt, as i am not so familiar with it, I cant insert the commands i am adviced to.

Another problem is that printer's catridges are empty and i can't print the page with its TCP/IP adress. To buy new ones is about 100euro, and then if i dont manage to install the drivers these will be lost. Buying new printer for A3 paper is expensive, but i dont know if I can avoid it.

thank you any way , if there is any other solution I will be happy hear it!

Hi @Anthimos Let's try the following method and see if we may able to get its address this way:

Open File Explorer and click on Network from the left pane.

If you see the printer listed, right-click it, and select View device webpage.

When the printer's EWS page opens, locate its IP address in the address bar.

For the command line, you may easily install any unarchiving program such as 7-zip or WinRAR

Then right-click the drive file and extract it to a subfolder, this is much easier than using the command line method.

Hope that help,

Shlomi

Hi again ShlomiL. I dont see the printer in the network. After a lot of effort i dont even remember what I need printer's TCP/IP address.... lol.

I do have WinRAR, but then I dont know where to extract it. I really have forgot the procedures. I have done all of them and now i have mixed them up!

I think is really pity that the ordinary pc user has to put so much effort for a printer. I have in my office the HP 9800 deskjet and i did not had any problem. Both where bought around 2006.

Now, in my house pc (with the same  operating system) i cant put my second printer. As you know with Covid-19, we cant go to the office!
