HP Recommended

My HP Deskjet plus 4152 is brand new but did not come with ink.  No big deal, so I go to my local walgreens and buy the proper cartridge in color and black.  When setting it up today, I kept seeing a message on my laptop saying the cartridge couldn't be used and that I woul first have to use the "setup" cartridge, then once my printer was ready to go then I could swap the "SETUP" cartridge for the cartridges I had bought, which were the correct cartridges.  I have neber heard of this and I am not going to buy another cartridge.  There has to he a way to work this out surely, right?  This is so frustrating because I have so much work to do and I just spenjt a great deal of time on this.  I was surprised that I was unable to find any site, youtube video, etc. that could offer a work-around.  Surely, someone has a tip or suggestion for me.  Please help!
