HP easy start can't communicate with my printer so won't install. I bought the laserjet printer from a neighbor and he had it connected via ethernet. I reset everything to wireless setting and still won't connect. I'm able to print but I really want to install the software on my Macbook air which is MacOs sonoma 14.5

Hi @sunspot99j,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To address the issue of HP Easy Start not communicating with your HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color Printer M251nw on your MacBook Air with macOS Sonoma 14.5, try the following steps.
Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your MacBook Air. Verify the network settings on the printer to confirm it's connected.
Update HP Easy Start:
- Make sure you have the latest version of HP Easy Start. Download the latest version from the HP website.
Manual Driver Installation:
- Sometimes, manually installing the driver can bypass issues with HP Easy Start.
- Go to the HP Support page for your printer model.
- Download the full feature driver for macOS Sonoma.
- Install the driver by opening the downloaded file and following the on-screen instructions.
Add Printer Manually:
- If you can print but need to install the software, you might be able to add the printer manually:
- Open System Preferences on your Mac.
- Go to Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button to add a new printer.
- Select your printer from the list (it should appear if it's on the same network).
- Follow any prompts to complete the installation.
Reset Printing System:
- Sometimes resetting the printing system can resolve communication issues:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
- After resetting, re-add your printer and try installing the software again.
Firewall/Security Settings:
- Check your Mac’s firewall and security settings to ensure they’re not blocking the installation. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall and make sure it’s not blocking HP Easy Start.
HP Smart App:
- Consider using the HP Smart app, which can also manage printer settings and installations. Download it from the Mac App Store.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
