officeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello dear Sir or Madam,

I just bought a brand new printer which is OfficeJet Pro 8710. It was all good from assembling to installing the driver. However, the HP easy start can't find my printer. Funny thing is I can see 8710 in the control panel at the same time. Alaso, I tried to use IP address of printer to locate it, but still can't find it.

Could you help me to solve this problem then I can use my printer, please?

Looking forward to your reply.

Kind regards,

@wangnan2466, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Make sure the printer and the computer are on the same network.

Restart the router printer and the computer

  1. Turn off the router by pressing the power button or disconnecting the power cord.

  2. Turn off the printer.

  3. Close all running programs on your computer, and then shut down the computer.

  4. Press the power button or reconnect the power cord to the router, and then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.

  5. Turn on the printer.

  6. Turn on the computer.

Try running the Hp Easy Start program. if the issue persists, continue troubleshooting.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

If your printer is not found on the Choose Your Product step, click My product is not listed for steps to connect the printer.

Try to print.

If it fails to find the printer again, perform a complete uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers.

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP OfficeJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Download and install the latest drivers from here.

Updating printer firmware

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. Download and install the update from here. Refer to this document for help.

Let me know the outcome.

Cheers 🙂
