When cable is used the printer prints. When trying wireless printing, the printer shows the document in the queue but fails to print. No error message arrives. Tried another PC (both Toshiba laptops with Windows 7) but the same thing happens.
It appears to be a printer problem or the driver. I downloaded the driver from an HP site. EN4520_72.exe was the file name.

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are unable to connect your HP ENVY 4522 All-in-One Printer to the wireless network.
This issue could occur if the network is not 802.11 b/g/n – 2.4 GHz network or the printer not configured properly.
Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.
And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Wireless Printer Setup (Windows)
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.

Thank you Rainbow 23. I went through the steps you provided and all seemed to go well. However, when I tried to print a test page from printer properties, it gave the same result, i.e. the document was in the printer queue but the printer failed to print it. I think that fact shows that the PC and printer were connected wirelessly. I also saw messages on the printer screen indicating the setup was correct and I was connected to the right network.
I did not have enough time to try everything a second time but I will do that in the near future and report the results.
Here are a couple of questions in the meantime if you have time to answer them:
1) the wireless network was showing as PUBLIC. I changed it to HOME GROUP and wondered if that could be an issue. I did make sure that the printer was shared.
2) when the printer icon appears in the list of devices & printers, it is grayer than other devices. Does this imply the setup is incomplete? As before, the printer works well when connected to the PC with a USB cable.
One other point. When I used the driver/installation site, the search for the printer kept resetting after progressing for several seconds. This is where I will start troubleshooting when I get back to the problem.

Hi Rainbow23,
further to my earlier post where I said I still had the problem of not being able to print even though the printer was showing documents in the print queue, I took the printer to another location (different router involved) and successfully followed your instructions on a 32 Bit Windows 7 laptop, including downloading the software from the site you mentioned. Then I searched for printers on another 64 Bit Windows 7 laptop and a 64 Bit Windows 10 laptop. In both cases, the printer worked perfectly.
So, now I have to investigate the other wi-fi setup to see if there is a problem there which prevents the printer from printing. I will post another reply when I have that figured out.

Hi Rainbow23,
I saw your latest post after I had successfully got the printer to work with 3 other laptops at a different location (see my post of 11Apr17). I will now go back to the original location and follow all your steps and report the outcome. Not sure when that will be exactly but soon.
