HP envy photo 6234 stuck on booting/initialisation screen.
After plug-in the printer only shows the HP logo with the black line. The dots under the line stay white. They do not load.
Is this a software error? Printer is plugged into the wall and have been off for a while.

Hi @Rdelicia,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand that your HP ENVY Photo 6234 printer is stuck on the booting/initialisation screen, displaying only the HP logo with a black line and white dots that do not progress. We’re here to help.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Perform a Power Reset
This helps clear residual power and reset internal components:
- With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cable from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (bypass power strips/surge protectors).
- Reconnect the power cable to the printer.
- Power on the printer and check if it proceeds past the HP logo.
2. Attempt Recovery Mode (if possible)
If the printer still doesn’t pass the boot logo:
- Press and hold both the back button (⟵) and cancel button (✖) at the same time while plugging in the power cord.
- This may trigger a firmware recovery mode, depending on the firmware version.
If it enters recovery mode, you may be able to reinstall the firmware using the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start tool from your PC.
3. Check for Signs of a Firmware Failure
If the screen remains frozen after multiple restarts and does not respond to the button combination, the issue is likely firmware corruption. In such cases, service may be required.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
