I got this message on my Mac laptop running OS Sequoia 15.2: Legacy System Extension- Existing software on your system loaded a system extension signed by "HP Inc." which will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. Contact the developer for support. Is an updated version of the HP system available or plan

Hi @JerryD1949

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The message you're seeing on your Mac laptop indicates that the HP system extension you’re using is legacy and will not be compatible with future macOS updates, specifically with macOS version 15.2 (Sequoia) or later. This is due to Apple’s transition towards using notarized and modern system extensions that meet their new security requirements. This change is part of macOS's continued efforts to enhance security and remove support for older, less secure system extensions.

What You Can Do:

1. Check for Updates from HP

  • HP has been working on updating their software to be compatible with the newer macOS versions. Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start and HP drivers.
  • To check for updates:
    • Go to the Mac App Store and check for any updates related to HP Smart or any other HP apps.
    • Alternatively, visit the HP Support website and look for the latest version of HP drivers and software for your specific printer model. Download and install them to see if they resolve the issue.

2. Use AirPrint Instead

  • AirPrint is Apple’s built-in wireless printing solution, and it's compatible with many modern HP printers.
  • If you're experiencing compatibility issues with the HP extension, AirPrint can be a good alternative. To use it:
    • Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
    • Open any document or image you want to print.
    • Click on File > Print in the application you’re using, and from the printer selection dropdown, choose your HP printer with AirPrint as the option.

I hope this helps.
