The problem was first noticed when we ( recently) had a new router connected to our computer. We had to shut off all connected devices. Once reconnected, we couldn't print or copy. We troubleshooted to find we needed a printer driver. Using the serial #, feedback from HP is that the driver on our model printer is expired. Connected with HP Customer Assistant and received redundant useless messages getting AI messages.

@use1, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We understand you recently changed the router and you are getting printer is expired notification, please try the following solutions to get your HP OfficeJet 4652 working again:
Steps to Fix the Issue:
Download and Install the Latest Driver Manually
Even if HP states the driver is "expired," you can still try installing the latest available version:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter HP OfficeJet 4652 in the search bar.
- Select your operating system (Windows 10/11 or macOS).
- Download the HP Full Feature Software and Drivers.
- Install it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Use Windows Built-in Driver
If HP doesn’t provide a driver, Windows may still have a generic driver that works:
- For Windows:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Click Add a Printer.
- Choose The printer I want isn’t listed > Add a local printer.
- Select HP OfficeJet 4650 series (or similar).
- Complete the setup.
- For Mac:
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Click + (Add Printer) and select your printer.
- macOS should automatically install compatible software.
Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer from power and wait 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Try printing again.
Reconnect to the Network
Since this issue started after a new router was installed, reconnect the printer:
- On the printer’s screen, go to Wireless Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Ensure your PC is on the same Wi-Fi network.
Use HP Smart App
- Install HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store.
- Add your printer in the app.
- Try printing a test page.
Update Windows or macOS
- Sometimes, OS updates fix driver issues.
- Check for updates in Settings > Windows Update or Mac Software Update.
