Laserjet Pro M254dw

HP introduced a couple of days ago a SW update that blocks the installed toner cartridges from a different supplier.

This is an unacceptable behaviour and a clear fraud against its customers.

The latest firmware update does not indicate any changes of this type.

That said, this device has always been a "Dynamic security enabled" printer.

Product introduced September 2017

Datasheet - HP HP Color LaserJet Pro M254 Printer Series

Excerpted from that document:

Dynamic security enabled printer. Intended to be used with cartridges using only HP original electronic circuitry. Cartridges with modified or non-HP electronic circuitry may not work, and those that work today may not work in the future. Learn more at hp.com/go/learnaboutsupplies

Could be that this feature is implemented since a while. However, since a couple of days ago - after the printer has installed the most recent update - it is blocking the cartridges are installed since approx. 6 months, even though cartridge policy and cartridge protection are switched-off.

Something happened since the update has been installed.

If I replace the cartridges by old but empty original HP cartridges the printer is working again.

I can just call that fraud by HP!!

Any solution would be much appreciated
