i have tried this solution but it does not work. The box in printing preferences finishes for double sided printing is definitely unchecked but the printer stil prints double sided. It also does the same when printing from other computers. I didnt have this problem before but recently received a replacement printer ( brand new) from hp becaise of a paper jammming proble in the old printer.

it seems to me like it is some setting on the printer itself rather than each of the individual computers using it.  ive searched the menus on the printer but can find nothing that suggests it can be changed to alter this. any ideas please?

I'm having the opposite problem with my laserjet 1020. I always try to use double sided printing to save paper. Since upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, the duplex printing no longer works. All the correct boxes are ticked for two-sided printing (printer preferences, individual document preferences, etc); the pop-up even comes up as before, telling you how to do it. But the printer still just prints everything single sided. Is there a driver update or something that can fix this?

Thanks.

Turn-off double sided printing - Solved

I am using Windows 10 and was unable to switch off double sided printing

I turned off double-sided printing in printing preferences as instructed in the forum. I turned off double sided printing for each print job from the application I was printing from. The check-boxes remained blank but everything continued to print double sided - frustrating right?

Anyway, the problem for me was that double sided printing was set inside the printer

To fix

1. Go to the Window 10, Start menu
2. Open "HP Printer Status & Alerts"

3. You will need to log in with the username (probably "admin") and password you entered into the printer when you first set it up
4. Go to the "System" Tab,

5. Go to "Paper Setup"
6. Find Duplex; turn off (If it's on, no matter what you set elsewhere, you will not be able to turn-off duplex printing).

7. Once turned off, you can turn on and off double sided printing from printer preferences and at the application level

You're welcome

Solution does not seem to work on Windows 10. Switching off all 2 sided functions in the preferences does not effect the output. I switched off the comple 2-sided function in the printer via http://[PrinterIP]/hp/device/set_config_suppliesSettings.html?tab=System&menu=SuppliesSettings
