Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP lserjet 5200 that was connected to my computer BUt is not for some reason.

WHen I run an ethernet cable between my computer and the printer , try to add printer, it si not found.  Obviously when it is connected to the network it is not found either.

I tried connecting with the USB printer cord, still can not find the printer.

Printer does have an IP address.

I was able to update the jetdirect card using the Jetdirect embedded web server and typing the IP address.  Restarted the printer after the update.

Any ideas?   Thank you in advance for your help

If you are connecting the printer directly to the computer via a network cable you will need to configure both the printer network address and computer address manually ensuring that they are on the same subnet. For example

printer: 192.168.2.3

computer: 192.168.2.5

You state that your computer has an IP address. Is this address for the wired network or a wireless network? Each network adapter must have a unique address, usually supplied by a network device called a DHCP server. When connecting a computer and printer together directly with a wired ethernet cable, there is no DHCP server to supply the address and that is the reason you need to manually configure as stated above.

I changed my IP address from auto DHCP to manual and the printer and computer have the same IP address (except for the last number).

I tried changing from wireless to wired (computer and printer) and still can not find the printer.  I was using the ethernet cable to switch box but changed to an USB printer cable.  I tought maybe the Jetdirect card was bad.    I have tried another computer and still no luck finding the printer.  It worked yesterday.
