I cannot find OJ7740/OJ7740_Basicx86_40.11.1148.exe driver now
I NEED to be able to print to the OfficeJet Pro 7740!
(WE have a Shgop control Program that only runs on XP)

I tried all these no go
I ended up with a in between:
I made a new user w/Admin priv's
Tried to install with the downloaded file.
It did not work.
BUT I found the temp files where all the extracted files were:
I first told the add hardware installer where to find the temp files.
That did not completely work
But after that I could run the setup.exe file from thetemp folder and it worked!

Well first off I looked and the Install (OJ7740_Basicx86_40.12.1161.exe) does not work and it does not install anything I can find
And WIndows XP does not find the printer and cannot find a Windows "built in" driver for it

Thanks for the reply,
It looks like you were interacting with KrazyToad, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out.
I'm Raj1788 & I'm at your service.
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-7740-wide-format-all-in-...
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Windows cannot find printui.exe
BUT there the 7740 will not install at all so there would not be a driver for it
Do not forget we are talking Windows XP here
and that install program will not work on this XP

Thanks for the reply,
I suggest you Create a local Administrator user on Windows
To create a new account, log in through an account with administrative privileges and follow these steps to create the account:
-
Click Start
, and then click Control Panel.
-
Under User Accounts and Family Safety, click Add or remove user accounts.
If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
-
Click Create a new account.
-
Type the name for the new account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.
Then try installing the driver and check if it's working.
Keep me posted.
Have a great day!
