ENVY 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good Morning,

Two months ago I connected with HP support, who charged me $19.95 to fix my Envy 7855 printer, which is out of warranty.  For a while it worked, but now the printing is erratic and the scanner doesn't work at all.  I tried calling the number that appeared on my credit card charge -[edit] but it just takes me back down the endless and unhelpful Virtual Assistant rabbit hole.  Does anybody have a number for human tech support?

Thanks, Grover810

I would wonder about that, too.

I believe, years ago, this might have been a support number associated with HP.  Recent years have brought us rats and vermin who spoof those numbers that people believe to be legitimate - and these scams include tricking people into contracts.

That said, if you have a contract with HP Support, you can submit a case to HP.

“Everywhere” Contact Information - HP Technical Support

Open website  HP World-Wide Support

Select your region and follow the prompts

  • HP Support does not publicly post contact numbers.  Submit your case online > provide all the requested information > explain the problem > ask for help > submit the case.  After the case is submitted, Contact information for your area will be displayed on your screen.

AND / OR

If you have a contract with SmartFriend , log into your Subscription to get help.

If none of this sounds like what you have, you do not likely have an HP Support contract or a subscription to SmartFriend.

Nonetheless,

  • I will ask that someone take a look.
  • Know that because we are not HP Technical Support, we are not a direct conduit to HP.
  • Should there be a response, the moderator / agent will (should) post back here before using other methods to contact you.
  • Do not contact random numbers posted in a public or private message by “new members”.  Vermin are looking for victims.

Note to those reading:

  • Please do not post any personal information here - we cannot make use of the data.
  • Posting personal information at a public site places your privacy at risk from vermin.

Thanks for your thoughtful and comprehensive reply.  I don't have any of the contracts you mention, but luckily just now I was finally able to get up and running by downloading and using the "Full Web Pack" for the 7800 printer series.  That left me with my printer connected via an ethernet cable, but for now I can live with it!

Regarding scam phone numbers, I'm sure they exist, but all I can say is that the agreed-upon charge appeared on my credit card bill, and when I called the number I got a regular HP support line which, as I said, sent me down the Virtual Assistant rabbit hole.  So I think it's legit, if unhelpful.

Thanks again,

G.

You are welcome.

I am glad you managed to solve you own problem - this is ideal, after all.

Scams or not?  That is the question!

I won't try to dissuade you further.  We can but present our opinions.  Smiling.  I would guess that if the number was legitimate at one time, that it is no longer associated with HP Technical Support.

Stay Safe!
