Updates fails every other day...
Most post suggested that it is caused by not connected printer.  I have checked my system and Windows reports only 2 HP printers and both are connected.  Yet updates fails systematically.

Tried Troubleshooting, suggested to run "Hewlett-Packard - Other hardware, Printer - Null Print - HP Officejet Pro 8620" it failed too.  Please not that Pro 8620 is not one of the installed or connected printer on my system.

Hi @Klims,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you are encountering issues with the HP printer update on your system. The error code 0x800f020b often indicates that a required printer driver update failed to install. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.

Remove Unnecessary Printers:

  • Open the "Devices and Printers" window from the Control Panel.
  • Check if there are any old or unused printers listed.
  • If you find any, right-click on them and choose "Remove device."

Update Printer Drivers Manually:

  • Visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP printers.
  • Install the downloaded drivers manually.

Clear Print Spooler:

  • Open the Services window by pressing Win + R, typing services.msc, and hitting Enter.
  • Locate the "Print Spooler" service, right-click it, and select "Stop."
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in that folder.
  • Restart the "Print Spooler" service.

Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  • Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to automatically fix issues with Windows Update.
  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update.

Manually Install the Update:

  • Download the HP printer update package from the official HP support website.
  • Try installing it manually by double-clicking on the downloaded file.

Check for Windows Update Readiness:

  • Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.
  • Run the following command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

  • After it's complete, run:

sfc /scannow

  • Restart your computer and check for updates again.

Check Event Viewer:

  • Open Event Viewer (Win + X and select Event Viewer).
  • Navigate to Windows Logs > System.
  • Look for any error messages related to the failed printer update. This might provide more information about the issue.

Remember to create a system restore point before making significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
