Hi,

I now have a new computer with windows 11 with my trusty HP Envy 6220.  I now have the HP Smart toolbox, but I prefer the old toolbox not HP Smart.  So much easier to scan a doc and attach it to my Outlook email.

Is there any way of getting my old HP toolbox put on my new computer?

Many thanks!

Mikey

Hi @MikeyM6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out, and we’re glad to hear your HP ENVY 6220 is still serving you well!

We understand your preference for the classic HP Toolbox software, which many users found straightforward, especially for scanning and emailing documents directly through Outlook. However, the HP Toolbox (also known as HP Solution Center or HP Scan) was part of older HP printer software suites that are no longer supported on Windows 10 and Windows 11, as they relied on Adobe Flash, which has been discontinued globally.

While HP Smart is the modern replacement, we understand it may not suit everyone’s workflow.

However, there are a couple of options that can help bring back a similar experience:

Option 1: Use Windows’ Built-in “Windows Fax and Scan”

This app is built into Windows 11 and provides a lightweight, no-frills interface for scanning:

  1. Open the Start Menu, and search for “Windows Fax and Scan”
  2. Choose New Scan
  3. Select your HP ENVY 6220, and proceed with scanning
  4. Once scanned, click “Forward as Email” — it will open a new email in Outlook with the file attached

📌 This offers nearly the same experience you had with the classic Toolbox.

Option 2: Use HP Scan executable (if available)

In some driver packages, the classic HP Scan app is still installed alongside basic drivers:

  1. Go to HP ENVY Photo 6220 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
  2. Search for HP ENVY 6220, and select Windows 11 as your OS
  3. Choose the “Basic Drivers” package (not HP Smart)
  4. After installation, check if a shortcut for HP Scan appears in the Start Menu

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
