I have a Mac computer and I know the printer is working because I printed the sample just fine.   However I  cannot print anything from my Mac Computer and it is stating cannot find printer.   Please let me know what I need to do.   Thanks

Welcome to the HP Community --

I cannot answer the question about what happened to the MacOS driver support.

The issue is under review (has been reported to HP).

When there is a solution, and assuming the solution includes the full drivers,

The printer product home > Software & Drivers page will once again include the Mac Drivers for supported versions of MacOS.

I asked the question of Copilot and received an answer.

Dragon Note

The following generated answer mentions HP Smart.

Checking the App Store, the new replacement for HP Smart is listed:  HP App.

Compatibility Mac Requires macOS 12.0 or later.

Presumably, Print and Scan features still exist (?) -

Once the app is opened, scroll down and down to find the section.

🧭 Workarounds for MacOS Compatibility

Use AirPrint (Built into macOS)

Most HP+ printers, including the 9120e, support AirPrint, which allows printing without installing drivers:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners

  • Click Add Printer, and choose your HP 9120e from the list

  • macOS will use AirPrint automatically if supported

This works well for basic printing and scanning tasks.

🧩 HP Smart App (Limited Functionality)

You can install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. It helps with:

  • Connecting the printer via Wi-Fi

  • Scanning documents

  • Monitoring ink levels

However, it doesn’t install traditional drivers or offer advanced print settings.

🛠Community-Sourced Fixes

Some users have found success by manually editing .ppd files or using legacy drivers:

  • A workaround involves modifying the printer’s configuration file to point to macOS’s built-in AirScanScanner.app for scanning3

  • This is a bit technical, but I can walk you through it if you're comfortable editing system files

🧨 Why HP Doesn’t Offer Drivers

HP’s newer printers under the HP+ program rely heavily on cloud-based features and HP Smart, moving away from traditional driver packages—especially for macOS. This has caused frustration in the community23.

If you tell me your exact macOS version and how you're connecting (USB or Wi-Fi), I can tailor a solution that fits your setup. Want to try the AirPrint route first?
