HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP printer has never worked right from the start. I could never install the full web setup. My printer keeps stopping and states I do not have an account. I called for help back in 2021 and they hung up on me because they could not figure out the problem. I just signed up for ink and got my first delivery now HP printer stopped again and now I do not have an ink account. I just can not keep up with all the problems. YOU NAME IT IT DOES NOT WORK.

Hello, I am still waiting for a response from HP. I am not holding my breath though. I have always had to figure it out on my own. Every time I try to install the full web pack even from the HP Smart it would download it then look for my computer, finds it, and then tries to install it after 20 mins waiting for it to finish in the end it finally states it could not find a computer. What a waste so I try to get help and nothing or I don't know.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting issues with the printer driver installation, I am glad to assist you.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Hello, I have tried to go through all this again and of course the staps were not like what I had so I had to find my own way as usual. I was able to get the latest firmware and set it up for automatic. I have still never been able to figure out how to go through the da* * HPSmart app to get the full web pack.  So, when I try to download it from the HP website and install it will go through the steps spend 20 minutes installing it, and then, in the end, tell me it can not find a printer. So, I downloaded the firmware but do I have the full web pack? I keep getting messages that my printer is not set up for scanning to the computer.  It states I have to download the full WEB PACK for it to work.

That is one of the worst programs to work with. The steps you provided did not match what I had to do. I had to figure it out on my own. I just want to be able to use it more than I am working on it. Why is it so complicated? Do I have the full WEB PACK or not now?

Hey Dragon-fur, I read about the first thousand words of your email. I already deleted everything and then started with the firmware. I could really give a crap about the ink I want to use on my printer. You state you have never used the HP SMART to install the software so why is it every time I try to download the software it states I have to go through the HP SMART to do it. I do not know how many times you want me to delete the printer and start over. My eyes started hurting from reading all that. That is ridiculous. I just want to use my printer. I just want to use my printer. I just want to use my printer.  It should not be this hard to use a printer. What do you guys do to these things? I saw all the threads on that support page. It is not just me. I am not going to delete it again. I finally got the printer page to show up. After deleting it earlier when the other person told me tp do it and then I had no printer. If it were not for you guys having to know what we are doing on it it would not be this hard. Take all the bloatware off and it might work.

Yea, that was part of the problem. I was following along with the instructions and then it got to the firmware and then it stopped. I was left wondering what to do now. It just stopped. So, I figure I was left to my own devices again.
