Hi @Sharice1975,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Of course, I can help you troubleshoot the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 not printing. Here are some steps you can try:

Check Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected between the printer and your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, verify its connection to the Wi-Fi network.

Restart Devices: Turn off your printer and computer. Wait for a couple of minutes, then turn them back on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Printer Queue: Check the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no pending print jobs causing a blockage. Cancel any stuck print jobs if there are any.

Paper and Ink/Toner: Make sure there's enough paper in the tray and that the ink or toner cartridges have sufficient levels. Replace any cartridges that are low or empty.

Printer Drivers: Ensure that the printer drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website specific to your printer model.

Test Print: Try printing a test page directly from the printer. Use the printer's control panel to initiate a test print. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the connection.

Run Troubleshooter: Many operating systems have built-in printer troubleshooters. Use these tools to identify and resolve common printing problems.

Check for Error Messages: Look at the printer display or any error lights for specific error messages. These can provide clues about what might be wrong.

Reset printer:

Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent.

3) With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 60 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

Update the firmware by selecting the current OS. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
