I'm really hoping someone here can help because I am not tech saavy, and I'm out of ideas.
I recently purchased two new desktop computers (Dell Inspiron) to replace old computers in the house that were not Windows 11 compatible. Both old computers had HP printers that worked perfectly fine on Windows 10, but now that I've tried to set them up on the new computers, I'm having issues with both. (Everything here is connected with USB cables - one computer to one printer each and no wireless printer connections.)
Printer #1 - a DeskJet 1512 - will print a test page and will (for the most part) print a page of black text okay, but if I try to print anything that has color on the page, it will print about 2 inches of the page, then stop for about 30 seconds flashing its light at me, then spit the page out. Sometimes it will try to print again, with the same result. Once or twice, it has popped up a notification to say that there was an error printing on the printer and that it couldn't print the document, but not always. This printer is also a scanner, and the scanning works just fine. It can also copy, and the copy feature works just fine - even if I'm copying a color page. It's just the printing that won't work. I've reinstalled the drivers more times than I can count. I've run the Windows troubleshooter and the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but they both say nothing is wrong.
Printer #2 - a DeskJet 1000 - is even weirder. I can't even get it to print a test page, but I have managed to get it to print a page of black text from Microsoft Word. Add color to that text, and it won't even acknowledge that I hit print. I've gone three rounds with installing the drivers on that one, too.
I've mostly been working with the 1512 because it's easier to tackle one problem at a time, and part of me suspects that whatever is wrong with one printer is probably related to the issue with the other. Does anyone out there have any experience or advice?
