I have a n hp psc 950 and windows 7.  The printer and copier work fine but the scanner won't scan.  It used to scan.

I downloaded the Hp Print and Scan Dr 5.3.1 and ran it.  It did its thing and came up with printer ok but scanner not.  I needed to update the drivers from windows updater.  My windows update has stopped working as well so I couldn't update from it.

I tried windows 10 but hated it so went back to windows 7 professional.

Any help to solve my scanner issues would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome to HP support community.

Scan from the computer using Windows Fax and Scan

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the printer via a USB cable and that the printer is powered on.

  2. Place the image or document you want to scan on the flatbed.

  3. Open Windows Fax and Scan.

  4. Click New Scan.

  5. Follow the onscreen instructions provided by Windows.

You can also Scan from the computer using Paint

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the printer via a USB cable and that the printer is powered on.

  2. Place the image or document you want to scan on the flatbed.

  3. Open Paint.

  4. In the Paint window, click the drop-down arrow next to the menu icon (), and then select From scanner or camera.

  5. In the Select Device window, make sure the printer is selected and then click OK.

  6. In the Scan window, click Scan.

I hope that helps.
