MFP 137fnw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi @all,

following configuration ist given.

Active directory integrated Windows 10 x64 client, Check Point EPS

Usecase ist homeoffice

Printer is HP MFP 137fnw

Printer ist connected via wlan to a Telekom Speedport, IPv4 ist configured static, IPv6 is configured automatic

Webinterface can be accesed via IPv4

Installation of HP_Laser_MFP_131_133_135-138_Full_Software_and_Drivers_1.17.exe on the Client

Printer setup is not able to discover printer with IPv6 disabled on the Printer, even with given ip adress.

Printer setup will discover printer as soon as ipv6 is enabled.

Installation with IPv6 is successfull, printing is operational, as long as IPv& adress of printer will not change (e.g. powerloss).

Manual Windows based installation with standard TCP/IP port is possible, pinting is operational.

HP scan will not discover the device neither IPv4 nor IPv6 even with adresses given, however

HP scan will discover scanner automatically via IPv6 if software is executed with elevated privileges.

Any ideas wich ports might be blocking discovery with IPv4, scanner and printer?

Any ideas why HP scan can only discover the scanner with elevated privileges?

Any idea hw to connect the scanner IPv4 based?

Thx for your support

Use the HP Smart app to scan and print, and follow these steps to fix the issue.

  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.

Hi Sandytechy20,

we scrubbed the system.

Firmware of the printer was successfully updated.

We performed a clean install of drivers and software.

Windows 10 ist now able to discover the printer via static IPv4 for printing.

However,

HP Scan will not discover the printer if started as user.

HP Scan will discover the printer based on IPv4 if started with administrative privileges.

Discovery of the scanner intermittently fails even with administrative privileges.

Administrative privileges are not an option to be granted to the user.

For testing purposes the antimalware product in use was uninstalled, symptoms remained.

Improvement so far ist the discovery of the scanner based on IPv4.

Still it´s only sporadically discovered and only with administrative privileges.

Any suggestions?

Best regards

Lutz

Did you try to install the printer using the HP Smart app as mentioned in the above post?

If yes, try to scan from the HP Smart app and check if that works?
