HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277dw - trying to set up on my desktop.  Says driver not available.  I've tried reinstalling the software and keeps coming up with the same message

To resolve the “Driver unavailable” message for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw on Windows 11, install the full solution software package directly from HP’s official site and ensure the printer is added using the correct driver.

 

Uninstall any existing printer drivers

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select your HP M277dw printer and click Remove.
  • Then, press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and uninstall any HP software related to the M277dw.

 

Restart your PC and printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your PC.
  • Power the printer back on and reconnect it to the same Wi‑Fi network as your PC.

 

Download and install the full software solution

  • Visit the official HP driver page for your printer:
    HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw – Software and Drivers
  • Under “Driver-Product Installation Software,” download the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 Series Full Software Solution.
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen steps to complete setup.

 

Add the printer manually if needed

  • If the printer doesn’t appear automatically:
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device.
    • If it doesn’t show up, click “The printer that I want isn’t listed”.
    • Choose “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname”, enter the printer’s IP address (you can print a Network Configuration Page from the printer), and follow the prompts.
    • When prompted for a driver, select HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 PCL 6 from the list.

 

Run a test print

  • Once installed, open a document and print a test page to confirm functionality.

 

By removing old drivers, installing the full software package, and ensuring the printer is added with the correct driver, this issue should clear up completely.
