Hi @Gary504,

To set up your HP LaserJet 1320 on a Mac mini running macOS 15.6 (or a similar version), you may experience compatibility limitations due to the age of the printer. Newer macOS releases do not always provide native support for older hardware. However, the steps below outline several viable options to enable printing.

1. Verify Compatibility

Begin by confirming whether the HP LaserJet 1320 is supported on macOS 15.6. As this is a legacy printer model, native driver support may be limited. That said, alternative configuration methods are often successful.

2. Download and Install Available HP Drivers

HP continues to host drivers for many older printer models. To attempt a manual installation:

  • Visit the HP Support website and navigate to the HP LaserJet 1320 Support page.

  • Search for HP LaserJet 1320 and select the appropriate model.

  • Under Driver – Printer, choose the closest available macOS version.

  • Download and install the listed driver.

Note: If your specific macOS version is not available, consider installing drivers for an earlier version (such as macOS 10.14 or 10.15). These drivers may still function on newer macOS versions despite not being explicitly listed.

3. Configure the Printer Using AirPrint (If Supported)

If the printer is connected to the network via Ethernet or a print server, it may be detected as an AirPrint device, eliminating the need for additional drivers.

  • Open System Settings (or System Preferences) and select Printers & Scanners.

  • Click the + button to add a printer.

  • Select the printer from the list of available devices (it may appear as an AirPrint printer).

  • Click Add, then test printing.

4. Use a Generic PCL or PostScript Driver

If a model-specific driver is unavailable, macOS provides generic printer drivers that can enable basic printing functionality:

  • Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

  • Click + to add a printer.

  • Select the printer (via USB or network connection).

  • Under Printer Software or Use, choose a Generic PCL Printer or Generic PostScript Printer.

  • Click Add to complete the setup.

I hope this helps.
