I have an HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One printer B611, bought in the UK.

Serial No: [edited]… FPU No: CQ191-64001

I have used it without problems for some years using a USB connection to my ‘late 2013’ Apple 13” MacBook Pro which is currently running MacOS 11.7.10. It was always recognised within the Printers & Scanners Utility in System Preferences by the prevailing version of MacOS.

However I recently had to fit the computer with a new SSD hard drive, with the result that I have had to re-instal all my software.

When I ask the Printer Scanner utility in System Preferences to recognise the printer it finds a driver for a ‘HP Deskjet 3070 B611 series’ printer, but not the one for the 3070A printer/scanner. This offered driver enables good printing in black and white, but any attempt to print in colour produces extremely poor results, despite the printer producing perfect test pages from its on-board menu. Furthermore it offers no scanning facility at all.

I have been to the HP website, from which I downloaded the HP driver for this printer for this version of MacOS as a disc image ‘HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg’ which opens the installer ‘HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg’. However although that installer apparently instals correctly to my hard drive, showing installation successful, the software does not appear in my Applications folder, nor are the software files to be found in my ‘Printers’ folder, and the printer is still not recognised it when I try to add it in System Preferences.

Has anyone a way for me to get this printer working again? I’d really welcome some advice.

@kwagarrat6, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're having issues with reconnecting your HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One printer to your MacBook Pro after replacing your SSD. To troubleshoot this problem, here are some steps you can take:

Check Connections: Ensure that the USB connection between the printer and MacBook is secure. Try using a different USB port or cable if possible.

Software Updates: Make sure your macOS is up-to-date. Sometimes installing the latest updates can resolve compatibility issues.

HP Printer Software: Visit the HP Support website to download the latest printer drivers or software specific to macOS 11.7.10. This can ensure that all necessary software components are installed correctly.

Add Printer Again:

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
  • Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
  • Your HP Deskjet 3070A should appear in the list. Select it and follow the prompts to add it again.

Reset Printing System (as a last resort):

  • Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners".
  • Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list on the left.
  • Select "Reset Printing System..." and confirm when prompted. This will remove all printers and scanners from your system.
  • After resetting, click the "+" button to add the printer again.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
