I've installed a HP 3830 printer with WIFI connection. I've been able to download and install the printer drivers on my HP 6550b notebook, running Win10 (64-bit) from the HP support site. This installation worked fine , without problems.
When I did the same installation (download full driver package) on my HP 6560b notebook, also running Win 10 (64bit), I cannot print to the HP 3830 - the printer gets installed, I can print the test page etc..., but when trying to print a document, I see the file in the printer queue but it disappears without printing on the printer, not giving any error message.
I've removed the device, device drivers etc. and did a complete re-install of the printer on the notebook 6560b, but it always ends up with the same issue. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the win10 operating system, not with the HP installation (even HP print & scan doctor doesn't give any message).
The funny thing is, that it did work first , prior to the Win10 fall creator update - I never could make it to work after this fall creator update (but on my other notebook 6550b , it does work after the fall creator update of Win 10)
Any help is much appreciated - but don't ask to re-install the driver package (I've done this now already 5 times without success).
Cheers

I have reviewed the post. It is delightful to have you back here. You've done amazingly well by displaying spectacular troubleshooting expertise, superb resilience and stupendous research to try and figure it out. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
Please try these steps:
Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
- Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
- Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
- Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
- Now check for issue resolution.
If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
- Then create a new user account as an administrator from this link:http://hp.care/2rZfJBC
Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.
Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2su8G4N and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix the issue.
Please check if this document helps: http://hp.care/2HZU3y9 it is authored by a reputed forum expert and is an accepted solution. it looks like the print jobs disappear from the print spooler.
Also, try these steps from this link: http://hp.care/2CMceIG (HP Printers - Print Jobs Disappear from the Print Queue and Do Not Print (Windows 8)
Although it is for Windows 8, the steps are relevant for Windows 10 also.
Now check for issue resolution.
Finally, as a last resort, please backup your important data and perform a Microsoft push-button reset of Windows 10 from this link: http://hp.care/2toQrBj and then reinstall the printer full feature drivers from the HP support site.

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I read the post regarding issues with printing as nothing prints. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
- To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- Did you perform a root level uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers?
- Did you try windows 10 built-in drivers?
- Is it HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One or HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3830 All-in-One?
- Please furnish all these details for me to assist you correctly.
It looks like a driver issue.
For now, try these steps:
- Then perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: http://hp.care/2kcz5os (Step 1: Reset the printer)
Then uninstall and reinstall the printer software at the root level if the OS is Windows.
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
- Restart the PC again.
- Then create a new user account as an administrator from this link: http://hp.care/2rZfJBC
Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.
Then download the latest printer driver from http://hp.care/2syreDe and select the country and type the product# of the printer. Then install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix the issue.
If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH
This will resolve the issue for you.
If required please update the printer firmware also by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2rHKwDD
and update the firmware from the same link mentioned above to download the HP printer drivers.
This will do the trick for you.
Good luck and keep me posted.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Hi David,
Thanks for the reply - here're some answers:
- Did you perform a root level uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers? YES
- Did you try windows 10 built-in drivers? YES, but no luck - reinstalled the HP driver package afterwards again
- Is it HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One or HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3830 All-in-One? HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in
I'll try the tricks you've posted, and let you know.
One question though - if I reset the printer as you mention, does it require also to reinstall the printer on my other notebook HP 6550b where it is working fine?
Cheers

Hello, I've executed all of David's suggestions - in fact this was similar to what I've did before, but with detailed removal now from registry and using a new admin account when installing the software again.
HP 3830 series software gets installed, documents are shown in the spooler, but no printing. Installing windows built in driver doesn't help either.
Using HP doctor, I can print the internal test page, not the usual test print (which goes through the print spooler).
So I'm back to square 1 - In my opinion, it is not related to the HP software, but the the windows system: is there any way to use a debugger on the print spooler to see step by step where it goes wrong?
Cheers

Hi all,
I've changed the driver to HP PCL3 A-size printer class driver, and I'm now able to print pages from windows word.
No clue as to why this works, but for now, I leave it this way. Funny to see that on 1 notebook the HP3830 driver works, and on another , it works when using another driver .
Thanks and cheers
Filip
