Hi @kuhaneys,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the "User Intervention Required" error on your HP ENVY 5660 E-All-In-One Printer. It typically indicates that the printer needs some action to be taken before it can proceed with printing. Since it prints from mobile devices but not from your laptop, this suggests the issue is likely related to the laptop's software or settings rather than the printer itself.

Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Status and Connections

  • Ensure the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
  • Check the printer's display panel for any specific error messages or prompts that might need attention.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart both the printer and the laptop. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

3. Update Printer Drivers

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor  HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can diagnose and fix many common printing and scanning issues.

5. Check Printer Queue and Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers on your laptop.
  • Right-click your HP ENVY 5660 printer and select See what's printing.
  • Make sure there are no stuck print jobs. If there are, cancel all documents.
  • Right-click the printer again, select Printer Properties, and ensure it is set as the default printer.

6. Check for Windows Updates

  • Make sure your laptop's operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, printer issues can be related to the operating system needing updates.

7. Reset the Printing System (Windows)

  • Open Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click the HP ENVY 5660 printer and choose Remove device.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Reinstall the printer by selecting Add a printer and follow the on-screen instructions.

8. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings

  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block communication between your laptop and printer. Temporarily disable these to see if printing is restored. If it is, you'll need to add exceptions for your printer in your firewall/antivirus settings.

9. Change the Print Spooler Settings

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Find and right-click Print Spooler, then select Properties.
  • Set the Startup type to Automatic and click Start if the service is not running.
  • Click OK to apply the changes.

10. Try a Different Application

  • Sometimes the issue may be with the specific application you're trying to print from. Try printing a test page from a different application, like a PDF viewer or a web browser, to see if the issue persists.
