Wireless HP Officejet 5740 will not print, but can scan to a laptop and copy.
I have removed all HP S/W, reinstalled from scratch numerous times, have run HP SCAN Doctor V5.2 (which can see the printer and doesn't find any issues which need to be resolved) and still the printer will not actually print. I can see the document or whatever I want to print, go throught the print queue (yes, it is online), but nothing gets printed.
Running latest and up-to-date McAfee A/S; Win 10 64 bit, V1809 on a Dell G3 i7-8750H CPU; Windows troubleshooter didn't find any issues;

Let's Reset the printing Environment
-
Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet.
-
In Windows, search for and open Services.
-
In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then select Stop.
-
After the service stops, close the Services window.
-
In Windows, search for and open C:Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
-
Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.
-
Shut down your computer.
-
Connect the printer power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the printer.
-
Turn on the computer, and then try to print.
If the issue persists, uninstall the printer from root level once again as you did earlier and install the Windows Built in driver

Welcome to HP Support Community
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a great day 😊

Hey KrazyToad,
Great news, this worked (had to load the Windows built-in driver as the ). Got a test page printed, plus a Word Doc and web-page.
So, can I download the HP Printer Software suite to get best use from the printer or am I stuck using the Win Scan/Fax app?
Cheers,

I'm glad you got this issue sorted out
You can try downloading the Full Feature Software again but if the issue persists, then you will need to use the Windows Native drivers and software
You can also install and use the HP Smart App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hp.printercontrol&hl=en_IN

Hi KrazyToad,
Printer still doesn't 'wake-up' when I try to print - shows as off-line and I have to unplug it, then plug it back in to get it to work. Any ideas? Tried to find a suitable forum Q but couldn't find one. Printer firmware is up to date.
Cheers,

Let's assign a Manual IP Address
1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.
😊
