HP Envy Photo 7830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I am trying to setup my new HP Envy 7830 on a wired network.  I have managed it fine on my desktop and the wife's Mac but I cannot get two laptops to connect.

I have tried HP Smart, the basic install.  I have tried removing everything and starting again but to no avail.

I have checked the firewall settings and allowed the IP address of the printer.

Windows will not pick the printer up when searching but it can be seen in Windows Explorer.  When trying manually it says the driver cannot be installed, Element not found.

Any help would be gratefully received.

@Rangeyman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are trying to connect the printer to the computers using an ethernet cable. Kindly follow the steps mentioned in this document - Wired Network Printer Setup (Windows)

As the printer is connected to other computers fine, it means the printer is working fine.

Check the ethernet cable, the ethernet ports. Make sure both the devices are connected to the same network.

Check for any pending windows updates and restart the computers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

HI Kumar,

I have tried all of this and it does not seem to want to connect.

I have also tried the registry fix and stopping the spooler and renaming the drivers to .old.

I have managed to get the printer listed but then it says that the driver is not available.  I tried manually installing and found the driver using windows update but then it gave me an error of Element not found.

Thanks

@Rangeyman

If the printer is getting detected by the computer, you can install the printer using its IP address.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Remove the existing printer entry > click on Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

Let me know how it goes.
