Hi @RKT1306
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
We do nor recommend , If you're looking to bypass HP ink cartridges in your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e and use more affordable or third-party ink, it's important to note that HP printers, particularly those with HP Instant Ink or the HP Cartridge Protection feature, may actively block non-HP or third-party ink cartridges to prevent use. HP does this in order to protect the quality of prints and their own ink subscription model.
That being said, there are a few potential ways you might be able to work around this limitation, but please proceed with caution, as these actions may affect printer functionality, warranties, and print quality:
1. Disable Cartridge Protection (If Available)
Some HP printers have an option to disable the Cartridge Protection feature, which is meant to prevent the use of third-party or refilled cartridges.
Here's how you might be able to disable it:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
- Go to Printer Settings.
- Look for Cartridge Protection or a similar section under the Advanced Settings.
- Disable this feature (if it’s available).
If you're using HP Instant Ink or if your printer was purchased under an HP subscription plan, disabling cartridge protection might be harder or unavailable.
2. Use Compatible or Refurbished Cartridges
Compatible Ink Cartridges: Some third-party ink cartridge manufacturers (such as 123Inkt.nl) sell cartridges that are designed to be compatible with HP printers. These are often less expensive than HP original cartridges but may still work without triggering errors.
Refilled Cartridges: You could also consider using refilled cartridges (although some users find that HP’s firmware updates block these). In some cases, buying refurbished or remanufactured cartridges from reputable vendors might work without triggering errors.
3. Reset the Printer
If your printer is blocking third-party ink, sometimes you can reset the printer’s memory or reinstall the printer to bypass certain restrictions:
- Power off your printer and unplug it for a few minutes.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges carefully, ensuring they're seated correctly.
- Turn the printer back on and see if the issue is resolved.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
-Regards
