I just moved, and the printer was working fine before the move, and now is giving me trouble. Here are the details, as well as things I've tried thusfar:

  • The Control Panel is locked and it keeps asking me for a username and password (which I have never used or had set in the past).
  • Because I am at a new house, the WiFi is different, so I cannot connect to wifi since the control panel is locked.
  • I was able to print the HP Network Configuration Page, but the info on there isn't really helping me.
  • I cannot manually connect using the IP address because of the WiFi issue.
  • I cannot restore to factory settings because the control panel is locked.
  • I have unplugged, held down buttons, etc. to no avail.
  • I can't even download new driver software or anything because the machine isn't being recognized/connecting.
  • And no, I don't have an ethernet cable right now...

Any ideas?!! I'm dyin' here.

@finigan_again, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
