Microsoft Windows 11

I had my 9015e enrolled in the ink program but I had a bad printer jam and damaged the printer. I got a new HP 8130 printer and enrolled it in the ink program and removed the 9015e. The problem I am having is that I want to use the old printer as a local (USB) scanner and it just doesn't want to cooperate.

The device is a Printer that includes scan as an auxiliary feature.

There are several self-checks that must complete each time the printer starts (boots).

One of the very first checks is the test for installed ink cartridges and usable ink (in all cartridges).

-- Note --

The Instant Ink cartridges (in the 9015e) would have to have been replaced with new HP ink cartridges.

(Instant Ink cartridges only work with an active Instant Ink Subscription.)

Next,

After the ink check, the printer must be to be able to start well enough that any other errors are not be catastrophic.

I don't remember where / when the printer mechanics are checked for a clear paper path (no Jam error).

Jam errors can also be sensor based — one of the usual solutions is to Reset the printer..

If the printer is still "broken",

It might not be possible to get past the Jam error (if it's still a problem).

If the cartridges have been changed and the printer boots properly, then you perhaps can use it as you wish.

If the printer is worth a full set of new HP ink, it might be worth trying to rescue it.
