Hey, SpankyMac315-- forget about 123.hp.com. Delete your printer, delete the hp folder, click the "+" in the Printers & Scanners dialog box, add your HP... and when you do, look at where it says "Use:" and choose the HP driver. Apple will then download the very newest version to your Mac, and install it for you, and you will be in business. It can take a few minutes for the download, so don't worry about how long it's taking. Totally normal.
If you use the HP software from Apple you can print and scan. If you do AirPrint you will probably just be able to print. If you use Gutenprint you will definitely only be able to print FYI.
This article tells you how to find the hp folder, and restates what I've said here.

HP needs to come up with a solution to this problem. Apple won't. I follow steps on HP site to download and run a Cleaner. Great - that stops the **bleep** "HPDM.framework will damage your computer" from popping up every 10 seconds, but the "HP Easy Start" driver I was directed to run the printing to my M451dn Color Laser Printer does NOT see the printer, even after all the trouble shooting. Come on HP. Please fix this!
