Above printer prints from the computer just fine but when copying I get a 2.5in wide black blotch for the whole length of the left side of the paper. The right half is copying normally. It was working just fine. There was a recent update from Hp I guess. tried cleaning and restarting but to no avail

More details requested:

 

-scanning from the document feeder or the flatbed? Test both to confirm error exists on all copies

-If the line only appears on ADF, check the ADF closely. Lift the scanner cover to see if there happens to be something blocking part of the left hand slit glass where ADF scans happen.

-If the line appears on both ADF and flat glass scanning, I would suggest performing a factory reset to clear possible corruption in the printer's operating system.
