@jimboV, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer only prints half a page, especially when it worked fine on Windows 10. Let's work through this together.

This issue is often related to how clipboard images are handled by the default image viewer or editor in Windows 11. The Print Screen function captures a full-screen image, but if the app used to paste and print the image (like Paint or Photos) doesn't scale or format it correctly, it may result in partial prints.

Try These Steps:

Step 1: Use Microsoft Paint to Print

  1. Press Print Screen on your keyboard.
  2. Open Paint (Press Windows + S, type Paint, and open it).
  3. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.
  4. Go to File > Print > Print Preview to check how it will print.
  5. If it looks good, go to File > Print.

This method ensures the full image is scaled properly to fit the page.

Step 2: Adjust Page Scaling

If you're using another app (like Photos or Word), make sure the scaling or fit-to-page option is enabled before printing:

  • Look for "Fit to Page", "Scale to Fit", or "Shrink to Printable Area" in the print dialog.

Step 3: Update Printer Drivers

Windows 11 may have installed a generic driver. Let’s ensure you have the latest HP driver:

  1. Go to the HP OfficeJet 5255 Drivers page.
  2. Select Windows 11 as your OS.
  3. Download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers.
  4. Restart your PC and try printing again.

Additional Tip:

If you frequently print screenshots, consider using Snipping Tool (built into Windows 11) for better control:

  1. Press Windows + Shift + S to open Snipping Tool.
  2. Select the area to capture.
  3. Paste into Paint or Word and print with scaling options.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
