I performed a hard reset because the printer was stuck in a cycle of requiring me to print an alignment page then registering the scan as unaligned and requiring me to print another alignment page. Further investigation revealed this was just a cumbersome way for the printer to get me to replace the colored ink (despite the black ink still being fine).

After doing so, I got past the alignment prompt, but now the touchscreen is stuck at “Get HP Software” with a QR code. There is no ability to navigate away from this screen.

The HP app does not register this printer. If I try to add a new printer - either as new or already connected to the network - the app does not find the printer. Clicking trough all the Printer Not Listed prompts, it eventually tells me to go to my available wi-fi networks and select HP_setup. This is not an available Wi-Fi network; however, DIRECT-29-HP OfficeJet 8010 is. This matches me printer model #. However, it is password protected. But neither my HP Smart app password nor any PIN located on the printer works.

This means both my app and my touchscreen have no ability to do anything.

Is there a factory password I’m missing? Is this a malfunction or just a really unfortunate side effect of a hard reset?
