Does anyone have a truly useful solution for a printer stuck in Verifying mode?

I have done everything that I could to get my printer out of Verifying mode.

I can't get to Settings>Advanced Settings. Advanced Settings is grayed out and unavailable.

I can't get beyond Tools; everything under Tools is grayed out and unavailable.

All I can do is unplug the printer for 30 seconds, or two or three minutes; when I plug it back in it goes right back into Verifying mode.

Someone must have gotten their printer out of Verifying mode.

How did you do it?
