Has anyone been able to deactivate HP+?
I am absolutely in shock with the terrible service provided by HP with regard to their printers. I bought en envy 6032e, during set up you immediately get bombarded with instant ink subscription, which needs an hp+ membership. They make it incredibly difficult to understand that it is two different memberships. The terms and conditions for instant ink are placed right on your face and easy to access on the web as well, which specifies you can cancel at anytime; on the other hand the terms and conditions of HP+ are not explained anywhere, are no available online, and it leads to a costumer entrapment situation where you are forced to permanently use HP products only. I am disgusted and very upset about this sneaky treachery that HP is currently doing. I have tried to reach out to tech support who just shrugged me off saying "well hp+ is for life so that's it"; I then tried to request the T&C´s of HP+ to which tech support answered "we can't provide that, company policy is not to hand out the documents" so not only are the T&Cs not easily available but they are also are unwilling to provide them. I feel like I have been lied to and I would like for someone to help me correct this. Is the ombudsman the only option?

True -

HP+ and Instant Ink are separate contracts.

HP+ is not required to subscribe to Instant Ink.

Instant Ink is not required to enable or sign up for HP+ .

 

I have an HP+ contract on one of my printers.

I enabled HP+ to gain access to the premium services offered with the contract.

 

No, I do not know of a way to cancel the contract.

Menus related HP Smart will be changed to Orange.

Premium features are added to the printer after setup.

Requirements for HP+ printers

 

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.


Keep the printer connected to the Internet


HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.


During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup, you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.


Use Original HP cartridges


Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription.

 

You are paying to print a set number of pages each month.

 

Each plan, small or large, comes with as much ink as needed no additional cost.

 

True -- The subscription is billed each month -- Instant Ink is not a "pay if you use" service.

What is "Free Ink"?

 

There is no extra cost for ink.

 

Ink is provided as part of your subscription - use a drop or use a cup full, ink is included at no extra cost.

 

Important

 

After the initial Ink Kit is mailed out, ink is sent (only) when the printer notifies the service that ink is depleted and a shipment is needed.

 

  • All ink activated by the plan and all ink sent to you works as along as the trail / subscription service is active.

and

  • Subscription / Instant Ink remains the property of HP and should be returned to HP at close (termination) of the service contract.

HP+ is not a subscription. It is a cloud-based printing solution embedded in select HP printers. There are no costs specifically associated with HP+ beyond the initial purchase of the printer.


To stop notifications from HP Smart (HP+), follow these steps depending on your device: 

Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).

  • Go to Notifications.
  • Select HP Smart from the list.
  • Toggle Allow Notifications off.

If you still want to cancel, you can go ahead and delete your HP Smart account (HP+).
