I'm having issues when printing from MacOS 10.15 and mobile device - both print symbols. I've updated latest firmware - restarted computer and printer and still didn't fix issues.  It printed fine yesterday and now this today??

Hi @Kfrogs03,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with printing issues, especially when they appear suddenly. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw when printing from MacOS 10.15 Catalina and a mobile device:

Check Printer Settings and Drivers:

  • Ensure that the printer settings on your Mac and mobile device haven't been changed unintentionally. Sometimes, settings like "Print as image" or specific font settings can cause issues.
  • Make sure you are using the latest drivers for your printer. For MacOS, you can check the HP website or use Apple's Software Update to find the latest printer drivers.

Examine the Print Queue:

  • Clear the print queue to remove any stuck jobs that might be causing issues. You can do this from the Printers & Scanners settings on your Mac.

Check the Print File:

  • If the issue occurs with specific documents or file types, try printing different documents to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem could be with the document itself (corrupted files, specific symbols/fonts causing issues).

Reinstall Printer:

  • Remove the printer from your system and reinstall it. This can help reset any settings or configurations that might be causing the issue.
  • On your Mac, go to System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners, click on your printer, then click the minus (-) button to remove it. After that, add it back by clicking the plus (+) button.

Mobile Device Specifics:

  • Ensure that your mobile device's printing app or service is up to date. For example, if you're using AirPrint, make sure that there are no updates pending for your mobile device's operating system or the app you're printing from.

Network Settings (if applicable):

  • If your printer is connected over a network, reset the network settings on the printer itself. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by network configuration problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
