Please I am not technically savvy. My daughter is learning from home and logged on to our iMac and a message appeared saying the HP study something I can't remember but it said it will damage my computer. I followed the instructions my computer instructs to delete the applications in the finder. I did this and now need to reinstall the printer. But I'm afraid as I don't want to cause any damage to my computer with malware/viruses. Please help I called HP but due to Covid I'm unable to reach a live person. Thank you if anyone can please advise. I also called Apple was placed on hold then he hung up. I don't think he knew how to assist me so he just didn't want to bother. Please advise I would appreciate it.

Someone yesterday at Apple or HP made a software change that broke HPs printer drivers for most customer. It's a big problem that will probably be on the technology news sites very soon. I am seeing many, many complaint posts in both HP forums and Apple forums. The only common factor is older HP printers and recent Macintosh OS versions.

@babydoll711, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Nothing to worry, I am here to help you-
Let us try to add the printer using AirPrint drivers, here is how you do it-
Add the AirPrint printer to the Mac printer queue
Confirm you are using AirPrint by adding the printer in System Preferences.
-
Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
Figure : Example of the Printers & Scanners window
-
Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, and then do one of the following steps.
-
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up for AirPrint. Click the printer name, click the minus sign
to delete the printer, click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
-
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
-
If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, go to the Frequently asked questions in this document to resolve connection issues, try to add the printer again, and then continue to the next step.
-
-
Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

-
Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.
