HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My printer now shows more than a dozen alternatives for saving pdfs.  To print my choices are multiple too.  And I'm low on ink (and still paying) yet, but feel like the printer may no longer be connected to you.   Multiple issues...

Hi @C2Crystal3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Managing PDF Saving Options and Printing Options

If you are seeing multiple options for saving PDFs and printing, you can try the following:

Update or Reinstall Printer Software: Go to the HP Support page and ensure you have the latest drivers and software for your HP ENVY 7640 compatible with Windows 11.

Set Default Printer and PDF Application:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 11.
  • Here, select your HP ENVY 7640 as the default printer.
  • Do the same for your preferred PDF software by setting it as the default.

Checking Ink Levels

HP Smart App: You can check your ink levels through the HP Smart app, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store if not already installed. The app should provide an overview of the current ink levels.

Printer Control Panel: On the printer's LCD screen, navigate to the Ink or Cartridge status to check your ink levels directly on the printer.

Ensuring Printer Connectivity

Network Check: Confirm that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. You can do this by going to the printer’s network settings.

HP Print and Scan Doctor: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This tool can automatically diagnose and fix connectivity issues.

Handling Low Ink Concerns

  • If your printer is reporting low ink, yet you feel it is still connected and subscribed under the HP Instant Ink service, you can:
    • Check your subscription status via your HP account on the HP Instant Ink website.
    • Ensure your printer is reporting its status to HP for ink shipments.

I hope this helps.
