Hi @AliceJ49,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your MacBook is not connecting to the HP 4301 laser jet printer's Wi-Fi network, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check Printer Connectivity: Ensure that the HP 4301 printer is powered on and properly connected to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to restart the printer and verify its Wi-Fi settings.
  • Restart MacBook: Sometimes, simply restarting your MacBook can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your MacBook and try connecting to the printer again.
  • Forget Wi-Fi Network: On your MacBook, go to System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi. Select your Wi-Fi network and click on the "minus" (-) button to forget the network. Then reconnect to the Wi-Fi network and try printing again.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Make sure that your HP 4301 printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website.
  • Update MacBook Software: Ensure that your MacBook's operating system is up-to-date. Go to System Preferences > Software Update and install any available updates.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Try resetting the printer's network settings to default. This usually involves pressing a combination of buttons on the printer's control panel. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to reset network settings.
  • Check Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure that your MacBook is within range of the Wi-Fi network and that the signal strength is adequate. You may need to move the printer closer to your Wi-Fi router or consider using a Wi-Fi range extender.
  • Check Firewall Settings: Sometimes, firewall settings on your MacBook can block communication with the printer. Check your firewall settings and ensure that they are not preventing the MacBook from connecting to the printer.
  • Use HP Smart App: Consider using the HP Smart app on your MacBook to set up and manage your printer. The app may provide additional troubleshooting options and make it easier to connect to the printer wirelessly.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the connectivity issues between your MacBook and HP 4301 LaserJet printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
