I need to hook up our home printer to my PC so that I can print.  The printer is an HP LaserJetPro MFP M227fdw.   Up to now my wife has been doing all the printing at home.  I have been printing in the office but recently retired and now need to be able to print at home without sending everything I want to print to my wife.  How can I download and activate the printer driver.

When I tried to install it, the system asked me for the printer's IP address.  I don't know that, nor do I know where to find it.  The virtual assistant tried to tell me how to find the IP address, but the display on my printer does not correspond to what the virtual assistant told me I should be seeing.

Hi @albinus1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have trouble syncing your Pc to the printer. Here’s how you can get your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw connected and printing from your PC:

Step 1: Download the Correct Driver

Step 2: Find the Printer’s IP Address

Since the installer asks for the IP address, here’s how to find it:

On the Printer Control Panel:

  1. Touch the Wireless icon (or go to Setup → Network Setup → Wireless Settings).
  2. Select Wireless Details or Network Configuration.
  3. The IP address will be displayed (usually something like 192.168.x.x).

If menus differ:

  • Print a Network Configuration Page:
    • On the printer, go to Setup → Reports → Network Configuration Page.
    • The IP address will be listed under IPv4 Address.

Step 3: Complete Installation

  • Enter the IP address when prompted during installation.
  • Finish setup and test print.
