I just upgraded my Mac OS to Sequoia 15.0 and my HP OfficeJet 4652 that used to function fine wouldn't scan. Error message said the scan function is not available. I removed the printer from the Mac and am trying to reinstall but the error message now says I need to enable Bonjour on my printer to allow it to function with the Mac.  I have no idea how to do that or if it is possible. I have restarted the Mac and the printer, still no change. Any suggestions would be helpful.

To enable Bonjour on your HP OfficeJet 4652 and ensure it functions properly with your Mac running macOS Sequoia 15.0, follow these steps:

 

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. You can check this on the printer’s display by navigating to the Network settings.
  • If the printer is not connected, use the printer’s control panel to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Enable Network Discovery on Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup (the wrench icon).
  • Navigate to Network or Network Setup.
  • Look for an option related to Bonjour or Network Discovery and ensure it is enabled. This option may vary by printer model, but it should be within the network settings.

Restart the Printer:

  • Once you have enabled Bonjour, restart the printer to apply the changes. Unplug it for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

Reinstall the Printer on Your Mac:

  • On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add a new printer.
  • Your HP OfficeJet 4652 should appear in the list. Select it and ensure it is using the AirPrint driver or the HP driver recommended for your printer.
  • Click Add to install the printer.

Test the Scanning Function:

  • After adding the printer, try scanning a document to see if the function is now available. You can use the HP Smart app or the Image Capture application on your Mac.

 

Driver udpate.

  • Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers for your printer. You can download them from the HP Support website.
  • Firewall Settings: Ensure that your Mac’s firewall settings are not blocking printer communication. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall, and check the settings.

By following these steps, you should be able to enable Bonjour on your HP OfficeJet 4652 and successfully set it up on your Mac. If issues persist, consider reaching out to HP Phone Support for further assistance.
