HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, I encountered an issue where my HP OfficeJet Pro 8030 printer was unable to send scanned documents to my HP laptop. After reviewing information on HP’s support website, I was prompted to download HP+ in order to resolve the problem. However, once HP+ was installed, my printer stopped functioning entirely. An error message indicated that HP had disabled my printer due to the absence of HP ink.

I attempted to contact HP support immediately but was unable to reach a representative. In an effort to restore functionality, I removed the HP+ program and the HP Smart app, reset my printer to its default settings, and reinstalled the HP Smart app. Despite these efforts, my printer remains disabled, continuing to display the message instructing me to purchase HP ink.

I have found the process for withdrawing from HP+ to be unclear, unnecessarily complicated, and obstructed by misleading or hidden information. I am also concerned that HP has accessed and used my personal data without clear, informed consent, and that this data has restricted my use of a device I own outright.

This experience has significantly eroded my trust in HP’s products and services. I respectfully request: Immediate restoration of full printer functionality, a complete and confirmed withdrawal from the HP+ program, and clear, accessible instructions for opting out of HP+ and associated services in the future.

How to contact an HP agent:
Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary.

If you are out of warranty, you might consider asking Microsoft's Copilot for advice. Be sure to identify your product, what the problem is, and ask for videos.
There is also HP smart friend but Copilot is not restricted on answering certain questions.
