Laser Jet P1102W
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,  I am new here.

For years my HP Laser Jet P1102W printer has been cable-connected to my old Windows 10 64-bit desktop PC.  Now I also want to wirelessly connect it to my new Windows 10 64-bit laptop PC.

The laptop did not find the P1102W in Devices and Printers.  I could not use the P1102W driver CD because the laptop does not have a DVD drive.  I went on the HP website and downloaded and installed the app that is said to be the same as the CD, namely:

hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20120831-50157036_SMO.exe

The laptop now finds the P1102W in Devices and Printers, in fact it shows two of them:

Laptop 1.JPGThe printer designation on the left was inserted by the "Full Solution" install.

But when I try to print, it puts the document in the print queue, but says that the P1102W "needs attention" or sometimes that it is "offline".

I can find nothing in the printer settings about connectiing the P1102W to my router's wifi network.

Meanwhile, Devices and Printers on my old desktop PC , which used to show the printer twice, now shows it 3 times, the one on the left only appeared after the "Full Solution" install on the laptop.

Could anyone please help me to sort out this tangle - in simple words, please, I am one of those old computer dummies you have heard about.

Regards,

Mike

I have now been able to get the new laptop wirelessly connected to the printer, and the old desktop still works the printer too via cable.

So my problems are solved.

Maybe it would be best to remove the P1102W printer from both PCs and start again, and just go for the wireless connection for the laptop, as I am trying to retire the desktop PC?
