Well I tries to setup my printer and it couldn't complete the setup process, so I removed my printer from the Hp smart app in hopes of being able to restart the setup process again but now when I even try to find my printer, the app can't find it. So I was told to factory reset my printer, but how do I do that if I can't find it on the app?

Hi @SauceyBabe1987,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To perform a factory reset on an HP DeskJet 2742e printer, you can follow these steps.
Turn on the Printer: Make sure your HP DeskJet 2742e printer is powered on and connected to your computer or network.
Reset via the Control Panel (if available): If your printer has a control panel with a screen, you may find the reset option there. Navigate through the menu using the arrow keys and look for "Settings" or "Tools" options. Within these options, there should be a "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Reset" option.
Use HP Smart App (Recommended): HP provides a software called "HP Smart" that allows you to manage and troubleshoot your printer. If you have the HP Smart app installed on your computer or smartphone, follow these steps:
- a. Open the HP Smart app and select your printer from the list of available devices.
- b. Click on "Printer Settings" or "Tools" in the app.
- c. Look for an option like "Printer Preferences," "Printer Maintenance," or similar.
- d. Inside the settings, you should find the "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Reset" option. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the reset.
Manual Button Combination (if applicable): If the above methods do not work, you might need to use a manual button combination on the printer itself. Here's how:
- a. Turn off the printer.
- b. Press and hold the power button, and then press and hold the "Cancel" or "Resume" button simultaneously.
- c. Keep both buttons pressed for about 5-10 seconds until the printer lights flash or the screen displays a reset message.
- d. Release the buttons and wait for the printer to complete the reset process. It might take a few minutes.
After the factory reset is complete, your HP DeskJet 2742e printer should be restored to its original settings, and any previous configurations, settings, or network connections will be cleared. You'll need to set it up again as if it were a new printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello! Thank you so much! I was able to manually factory reset my printer simply by having the printer off like you said and then pressing and holding the power button and the "X" button at the same time for 5 seconds. It reset and I was able to find the printer on the HP smart app again and begin the install process....
The same thing happened before but this time I did take a Screencast and copied the error code, which was: EBS00P0010
I've tried contacting HP over the phone and I was told I would be on a call back list and sadly am still waiting after 2 days no call back. Might have to call them again.
Do you know what I should try to do now?
