Hi @Dave6225

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how confusing it feels when the familiar scan option seems to have disappeared, especially since you’ve successfully scanned before. Thank you for sharing that you’ve already tried earlier methods—it helps us focus on the right path. Let’s walk through the ways you can access the scan function on your Mac:

Option 1: Using HP App

  1. Open the HP App on your Mac.
  2. Select your printer from the home screen.
  3. Look for the “Scan” tile or button.
  4. Choose “Scan Document” or “Scan Photo” depending on your need.
  5. Adjust settings such as resolution, color, and file type before starting the scan.

Option 2: Using macOS Preview

  1. Open the “Preview” application from Applications.
  2. In the menu bar, click “File” > “Import from Scanner” or “Import from [your printer name].”
  3. The scan window will appear, allowing you to choose scan type and save location.

Option 3: Using macOS Image Capture

  1. Open “Image Capture” from Applications.
  2. Select your HP printer/scanner from the list on the left.
  3. The scan options will appear on the right side.
  4. Choose the destination folder and click “Scan.”

By following these paths, you should be able to bring back the smooth scanning experience you’re used to. Would you like me to also guide you on how to set a default scan destination folder on your Mac so that every scan automatically saves to the same place?
